🐾 Male; Catahoula Mix ; 17 months
🐾 Jett will be ready for adoption after the completion of his vetting on 2/11. He will be neutered, UTD on all vaccinations, and on monthly preventions.
•We would prefer someone with breed experience or experience with a herding/hunting breed similar to this. At the very least we ask you to do your own research on this breed and the traits they carry.
•We would also prefer a fenced in yard but this is not a requirement. Jett needs a considerable amount of exercise and without a yard would require 3-4 walks a day. This is not a dog you can just take out on a leash to potty and bring back in. Remember, this is a working breed.
•Jett is VERY slow to warm up to new people. You must warm up on his terms as he’s a very nervous dog. Although, he’s never shown aggression to new people he does tend to bark / growl. He seems to take longer warming up to males.
•Jett is dog friendly but must be introduced to new dogs properly! He can tend to be dominant. He loves to play and did well with all of his foster siblings. He is very protective over his cage (security spot) and sometimes over his toys. Jett cannot be in a household with cats. We also suggest no small livestock like chickens or ducks as he is a hunting breed who instinctively have a prey drive.
•Jett is extremely smart and is willing to please. He bonds quickly, and that becomes his person. He is very protective over his person. He is housebroken and crate trained. However, long hours in his cage make him very anxious.
•We are asking for a calm, quiet, active lifestyle for Jett with no children under 12.
Jett would be absolutely perfect for an active person who loves to run or hike! He is fantastic on a leash and loves an adventure!
